About us
WELCOME!
I'm a high school student from Fremont, California, a large suburban city in Silicon Valley plagued with high housing and living costs. Most citizens who live here are decently well off, shielded from the misfortune of poverty and homelessness. However, as with any other city, homelessness is still a pressing issue of concern. Through the platform of social media I hope to combat the stigmas of homelessness and bring to light each individual’s unique story.
Stereotypes are often mislabeled onto homeless because they appear inherently less useful to society. Maybe you’ve wondered why homeless couldn’t just get a job, earn money, and secure housing again. Maybe you wonder why many homeless are drug addicts or alcoholics. The truth is, many homeless have coping mechanisms largely misunderstood by society. Their motives behind drinking, drugs, or smoking are driven from the harm of psychological insecurity and are extremely difficult to combat without the basic necessities of housing and food. Hopefully, I will reach people of all walks of life to reveal the unique personalities and hardships of the homeless population.
This endeavor is, by all means, not a solution to homelessness, but rather a voice for the homeless. I wish to reach people from all entities to collaboratively take action for a population that is often forgotten yet coexistent within our daily lives.
